Emergency use of neonicotinoids on sugar beet
The Government has granted emergency authorisation for farmers to use a neonicotinoid seed treatment
(thiomethoxam) on sugar beet crops in 2021. The
reason for granting the licence is to reduce the number
of aphids which carry yellow beet virus,
causing reduced crop yields.
